Emergency engineering causing travel havoc for Southern commuters to London Bridge

Commuters travelling into London Bridge faced severe delays and disruption this morning, thanks to emergency engineering work.

Trains are being cancelled, delays, altered or diverted, National Rail has said.

The work is being carried out between the major London terminus and South Bermondsey, causing delays on Southern Rail-operated trains from Croydon, Sutton and Norwood.

The disruption is expected to last until 8:30am at the earliest, although commuters are being advised that trains due to depart at this time may be pushed back further.

Tickets are being accepted on trams and local bus routes, and other train routes including SouthEastern, Thameslink and London Overground.

Commuters are not best pleased…

Why display the 7:44 'on time' at Gipsy Hill knowing full well it hasn't left London Bridge @SouthernRailUK? You're messing people about.

@SouthernRailUK when you going to advise that London Bridge is down and that they're not even allowing people in at East Croydon as delays

Southern Rail an utter shambles again. Pathetic service.
