Dunlop’s Swingkeel today’s banker bet

THIS afternoon’s York card features the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes, the Group 3 Strensall Stakes and the Listed City of York Stakes, however, the best bet of the final day comes in the final race of the meeting. John Dunlop’s horses are flying at the moment and he can send punters home happy by saddling SWINGKEEL to land the Collingwood Team Service Knavesmire Handicap at 4.40pm.

Our selection was sent off favourite for a staying handicap at Glorious Goodwood and should have finished a lot closer than a staying on third that day. Jimmy Fortune overplayed his waiting tactics and gave Swingkeel far too much to do. I’m sure Fortune won’t make the same mistake this afternoon and he is a confident selection with the stable in such good nick.

The feature race on the card is the Nunthorpe Stakes run over the minimum trip at 3.25pm. The Sir Michael Stoute trained Kingsgate Native will be a short priced favourite to add to his Glorious Goodwood success and will take some beating. However, he is too short for one who has struggled to put two good races together in recent times. I prefer the chances of flying two-year-old RADIOHEAD who looks sure to run well with his whopping weight allowance. He worked really well alongside Arcano last week and surely must make the frame. I’m also sure that Borderlescott will run his usual race and he’s a tempting each-way bet at 8/1 with Boylesports.

Looking ahead to tomorrow’s Sandown card and PLEASE SING looks terrific each-way value in the opening contest at 2.10pm. Mick Channon’s filly looked unlucky at Bath last weekend and will surely go close with his yard back amongst the winners again. Strawberrydaiquiri will be a red hot favourite, so we’ll be sure to get an each-way price about our selection.

Finally, the feature race of the day is the Solario Stakes (2.40pm) and Godolphin hold a very strong hand with BUZZWORD. The son of Pivotal won’t mind any of the forecasted rain and ran a terrific race behind Dick Turpin at Goodwood last time. He is held in quite high regard by connections and as long as he doesn’t get too upset in the preliminaries will be tough to beat.

Pointers…
