US presidential candidate Donald Trump has said Mexico will pay for a border wall between the two countries “100 per cent”.

The statement came hours after the Republican nominee met with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto.

The Mexican leader, however, said that during their meeting he had made clear his country would not be paying for the wall.

But hours later he spoke of his ambition to build a wall between the nations again and insisted Mexico would pay for it.

“We build a great wall along the southern border,” he said. “And Mexico will pay for the wall – 100 per cent. They don’t know it yet, but they’re going to pay for it.”
