Competition: Win a case of Sauternes from a top chateaux

To make joining the CityAM wine club even sweeter, we are offering two lucky entrants the opportunity to win a full case of Sauternes from one of Bordeaux’s top chateaux. Chateau Rieussec is one of nine estates originally classified by Napoleon in 1855 as a Sauternes Premier Cru. Located directly next to Chateau d’Yquem, Rieussec was founded by Carmelite monks but is now owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild, owners of Chateau Lafite Rothschild.

The big news in 2012 in Sauternes was that neither Chateau d’Yquem nor Chateau Rieussec would produce their flagship wines as the weather was too dry for the ‘noble rot’ required to make significant quantities of the first wines. The result is that the second wine, Carmes de Rieussec, named in honour of the original founders, benefitted greatly: all the grapes which should have been used for the flagship wine went into Carmes de Rieussec in 2012.

Carmes de Rieussec 2012 retails for £145 per case of 12, In Bond. Perfect on its own as a chilled aperitif or as an accompaniment to spicy foods or dessert, the wine is full of aromas and flavours of apricots, white flowers, citrus, and honey and will be perfect for an English summer.

Join the City PM Wine Club for free for an opportunity to win a full case of Sauternes from one of Bordeaux’s top chateaux. Go to citypm.eu/win for full details.
