READER’S Digest Association, the owner of the world’s biggest-selling magazine, yesterday said it will file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for its US businesses within 30 days to cut its debt load. The group said the move would allow it to swap a significant proportion of debt for equity with lenders, cutting its debt from $2.2bn (£1.3bn) to $550m.
