PAUL MCNALLY BRIT INSURANCE
“I haven’t really noticed the recession, full stop. The pubs are full, the restaurants are busy. People say the housing and stock markets are down but that isn’t relevant unless you’re buying or selling, so elements of the crisis have been overblown.”

ANNA KINGSMILL-VELLACOTT AKV
“My gut feeling is that confidence is beginning to come back. It depends on the sector but some of my contacts say they have never been so busy. When the economy does improve, it may go faster that we think because of pent-up demand.”

CHRIS WRENCH ACCENTURE
“I’ve just booked a holiday to the States which I wouldn’t have done a couple of months ago. The markets are improving, the dollar is better for travelling and I’m not on the housing ladder but it would be a good time to buy. You wouldn’t want to speak too soon though.”
