City reject Corinthians £35m offer for Tevez
MANCHESTER CITY have rejected a £35m offer from Corinthians for their Argentina striker Carlos Tevez.
The former Manchester United player (right), who left Corinthians in 2006 for West Ham, is desperate to quit the Premier League in order to be closer to his young family who are based in his native Argentina.
Tevez’s long-time advisor Kia Joorabchian, who is no longer on speaking terms with City chief executive Garry Cook, believes the complex nature of the deal may see Tevez frustrated in his attempts to quit the Etihad Stadium.
“It is a big deal and a tough deal, because it is one of a very big nature and it might not be simple,” said Joorabchian. “We wait to see. First and foremost we have to respect that City have to make a formal answer.
“If they do accept, then everyone will be running to make it happen. If they don’t we will have to see what other options would be available for him.
“Carlos has a lot of respect for City but unfortunately his wife and daughters have not been able to adapt.”
Corinthians’ pursuit of City’s top scorer in each of the last two seasons is complicated further by the fact that the Brazilian transfer window slams shut on 20 July.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Adebayor, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Real Madrid, looks certain to be fined after failing to report for training this week.
