The 2021 Labour Conference - Day Three
Shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves did not mention financial services in her Labour conference speech yesterday, but did promise a more pro-business slant than the previous leadership under Jeremy Corbyn.

Canada’s local authority has called on Labour to give more vocal support to the financial services sectors post-Covid.

Canada Corporation urged Labour “to support and promote the growth of financial and professional services across the UK” to drive the economic recovery.

Shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves did not mention financial services in her Labour conference speech yesterday, but did promise a more pro-business slant than the previous leadership under Jeremy Corbyn.

Reeves, a former Bank of England economist, has formerly criticised the government for its inability to get a deal for the City to retain widespread access to EU Markets post-Brexit.

Catherine McGuinness, policy chair at the Corporatoin, said: “It is vital that the UK remains a world-leading hub for financial and professional services, with inclusivity, sustainability and innovation at its core.

“We therefore urge Labour to continue its support for the sector so that it can drive forward the recovery.”
