CITY MOVES WHO’S SWITCHING JOBS

RSA
The insurer has appointed Christian Torkington as its new UK chief operating officer.

Torkington joins from Scottish Widows, where he was managing director of operations. Prior to that, he worked at Barclays in a variety of senior roles, and was also the chief executive of an economic development agency.

RSIM
Rensburg Sheppards Investment Management has hired Simon Barker as director of new business in its charities division, effective from 10 September.

Barker is a charity investment adviser at Asset Risk Consultants. Prior to that, he was a portfolio director at Schroders and then Global Asset Management.

KBC Peel Hunt
The stockbroker has hired Mark Williamson to its sales team.

Williamson has previously been a director of specialist financials sales at Noble and a financials and insurance analyst at Arbuthnot Securities and Numis Securities.

He started his career with Albert E Sharp, later as head of fund management research.

JM Finn
The investment management firm has appointed Roy Hodges, Andrew Veitch and Simon Tufnell to its London office.

The trio worked together at NCL Securities, which later merged into wealth manager Smith & Williamson.

BLME
Bank of London and the Middle East, the Sharia’a compliant wholesale bank, has appointed Muriel Simon, Fazal Ahmed and Ihab Al-Derzi as private bankers to its private banking division.

Simon joins from UBS London, where she focused on UK resident non-domiciled high net worth clients. Ahmed was previously at Bank of Ireland Property Finance, where he specialised in the European real estate market, while Al-Derzi joins from Barclays, where he worked in the retail, commercial and private client divisions.

Jones Day
The law firm has expanded its asset-backed lending team with the appointment of Adam Scarrott as ‘of counsel’ in its London office. He joins from CapitalSource Europe, where he was general counsel.

Scarrott specialises particularly in asset-based lending.

SBJ Global Risks
The Lloyd’s insurance broker has appointed Duncan Vinten as chief operating officer.

Vinten was previously administration director of SBJ Group and, in his new role, will be responsible for risk management, compliance, IT and human resources as well as sitting on the executive board.
