CITY MOVES WHO’S SWITCHING JOBS

Close Brothers Corporate Finance
The independent corporate finance advisory firm has appointed Will Thompson to head up its support services sector team.

Thompson joined the firm in March this year to lead the European healthcare services team, having previously been at Morgan Stanley. He has also worked at Lazard and Barings.

He has advised on numerous transactions in the support services sector, including advising the likes of Carillion, Compass Group and Serco.

Newscape Capital Group
Leonardo Da Costa has joined the specialist investment boutique as a portfolio manager from Hydra Capital Management, where he was a portfolio manager on the firm’s long only, long/short and arbitrage emerging market fixed income strategies.

Prior to that, Da Costa worked for Aberdeen Asset Management’s emerging market debt team, managing over $2.5bn of emerging market fixed income assets. In his new role, he will work alongside Newscape’s chief investment officer Derek Fulton, with whom he also worked at Aberdeen.

Oriel Securities
The stockbroking and advisory firm has hired Mark Hodds as head of execution.

Hodds joins after 17 years on the trading desk at Dresdner Kleinwort, latterly as head of pan-European trading.

He also previously spent 13 years working as an associate director at NatWest Securities, an associate partner at Morgan Grenfell and also at De Zoete and Bevan.

Otkritie
The Russian brokerage has hired Howard Snell as a director based in London.

Snell, who will head up the firm’s UK business strategy and work in corporate and investor relations, previously worked as UK chief executive for Troika Dialog, where he was responsible for launching the firm’s UK and European business in 2003.

Prior to that, he had worked at UBS, where he led debt capital market origination for Russia and CIS countries.

PuriCore
The LSE-listed life sciences firm has promoted Darren Weiss to the position of chief financial officer.

Weiss, 38, has been actively involved in the company’s finances since he joined in 2004, most recently in the role as vice president of finance. Prior to that, he worked in public accounting and in several senior financial management roles in the industrial and life science sectors.

DLA Piper
The law firm has appointed David Gray as its new office managing partner for Manchester, following the retirement of Simon Woolley after 16 years at the company and three years in the role.

Gray was previously UK head of the litigation and regulatory group.
