CITY MOVES WHO’S SWITCHING JOBS
Daiwa Securities
The investment banking group has appointed Masami Tada as its new chairman and chief executive for Europe and the Middle East. Tada joined the group in 1978 and has held a number of prominent roles in both Japan and Europe, most recently at the financial consulting and investment advisory arm, Daiwa Fund Consulting.
The group has also hired James Godfrey from Nomura as an executive director.
JP Morgan
Soma Rao is to join JP Morgan as head of fixed income, currencies and commodities for its private bank in the EMEA region.
Based in London, Rao has over twenty years of experience in the sector and was most recently a managing director and head of the global fixed income structured investments business at Citigroup.
AXA Investment Managers
The investment management group has appointed Jean-Pierre Leoni, formerly head of the firm’s product specialist unit, as head of its operations in the Asia-Pacific region.
Leoni, who will also be a member of the executive committee at AXA IM and AXA Rosenberg, originally joined the firm in 1998 as head of credit. Prior to that, he spent three years at Credit Commercial de France, latterly as head of the product and credit analysis department.
Execution
The agency broker has boosted its equities research team with the appointment of Lawson Steele as head of power research, to lead its utilities coverage.
Steele was most recently executive director of the utilities specialist sales division at UBS, where he worked since 1997. He qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse.
Lyceum Capital
The mid-market growth investor has appointed Martin Wygas as an investment executive.
Wygas joins from the private equity team at law firm Travers Smith, where he worked on numerous deals including the buyout of luxury lingerie brand Agent Provocateur, the public to private sale of oil services provider Expro and the sale of NCP car parks to Macquarie bank.
CFA Society
The investment professionals body has appointed George Spentzos, head of the credit advisory business at Credaris in London, as its new chairman.
Also appointed as fellows are: Anthony Bolton of Fidelity Investment; Kevin Carter, a non-executive at L&G Investment Management; Jane Fuller, a media and IR consultant; John Kay, visiting economics professor at the London School of Economics; Brian Singer, founder of Singer Partners; and Jane Vessey, owner of Wentworth Advisors.
