Pryke, who will also join the board, was previously investment leader for global research at Newton, a position he had held since 2003. He joined the firm in 1996 as a financials analyst.

Roger Wilkinson, who joined the firm in 2000 as a telecoms analyst, will succeed him as investment leader for global research.

HM Treasury
Jonathan Taylor has been appointed to the position of managing director for financial services, effective from early January.

Taylor is currently chief executive of the Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME), having previously been director general of the London Investment Banking Association (LIBA).

From 2002 to 2005 he was a managing director at UBS and also formerly worked for the Treasury in a number of roles, including as director for macroeconomic policy and international finance.

Close Brothers
The corporate finance adviser has appointed Tod Kersten as managing director to head up its newly-opened Warsaw office.

Kersten joins from Lazard, where he was responsible for its Central and Eastern European business.

He has significant transaction experience in the region, having previously advised the Czech government on financial restructurings, France’s Vivendi on its joint venture with Poland’s Elektrim, and Hungarian oil and gas firm MOL on regional M&A strategy and implementation.

Future Capital Partners
The alternative investment boutique has appointed Andrew Derrington to its business development team.

Derrington has over ten years of experience in the sector and joins from Mercury Tax Group, where he jointly ran the London office and was actively involved in business development and technical work.

Prior to that, he was responsible for structured investments at Ingenious Media, covering film partnerships, venture capital trusts, enterprise investment schemes and inheritance and corporate tax solutions.

The European content division of Liberty Global has appointed Levente Malnay as managing director for Chello Central Europe, effective from December.
