The stockbroker has appointed Shamim Mansoor as a mining analyst from HSBC, where she was vice president of global metals and mining. Prior to that, she spent five years as a mining analyst at Investec.
“The mining sector is experiencing an unprecedented period of change. As a global industry, its impact on the wider economy is profound and so there is great demand for independent research,” said Mansoor.
JO Hambro
The asset manager has appointed Hugh Grootenhuis as interim chief executive officer, following the departure of Andrew Steel, until a permanent successor can be found.
Grootenhuis joined the firm in 1999 and has been responsible for marketing its private client business and structuring new long-only and hedge fund vehicles. In 2007, he became head of funds and joined the executive board.
Alexander David
The stockbroker has appointed Angus Rose as finance and operations director.
Rose, 61, has been a consultant to the board for three months prior to officially starting his new role. His past career experience includes a 23-year stint at the Charterhouse group, where he held a number of roles including finance and operational director of Charterhouse Securities.
Career Academies
The young people’s career charity has appointed David Walker as director of programme and public policy.
A qualified barrister, Walker spent four years as a law lecturer before moving into public policy. He has previously advised on policy for organisations both in the private voluntary sector, including with business lobby the CBI, where he covered education, children’s services and criminal justice.
