CITY MOVES WHO’S SWITCHING JOBS

Deloitte
The business advisory firm has appointed Annette Olesen as an insurance partner.

Olesen has previously led key aspects of the Solvency II debate throughout Europe in her role as chair of the actuarial profession’s Pillar 1 Solvency II working group, and has provided input directly to the European Union’s Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Supervisors.

She joins from rival PricewaterhouseCoopers.

State Street Global Markets
State Street’s investment research and trading arm has hired Rick Boomgaardt as its new head of transition management for Europe, reporting to Edward Pennings, head of the EMEA portfolio solutions group.

Boomgaardt formerly founded the transition management business at Credit Suisse. He has also worked for Goldman Sachs, managing transitions for a wide range of institutional clients.

Travers Smith
Andrew Lilley has been elected to succeed Chris Carroll as managing partner of the law firm at the end of the year.

Lilley is currently head of employment at the firm and has served for five years on the management committee. His appointment will be for an initial term of three years.

Carroll steps down after nine years in the role.

Global M&A
The investment banking partnership has appointed Allison Dent, the co-founder and managing partner of its Canadian partner firm Synergis Capital, as its first chief executive officer.

The partnership consists of 40 top mid-market financial advisory firms focusing on cross-border transactions with values between ¤10m and ¤250m (£8.7m – £217.5m).

Wellcome Trust
The charity, which has an asset base of £12.2bn, has appointed Tim Johnston as head of execution and implementation in its investment division.

Johnston previously worked for eight years at Goldman Sachs, both as a UK equity trader and subsequently as head of automated execution strategies. He then spent over five years at Modal Capital, part of Credit Suisse, as a portfolio manager in the event-driven trading group, and most recently occupied the same role at Citadel Investment Group.

FirstCity
The insurance and reinsurance advisory firm has hired David Hawkins as a business development partner.

Hawkins has over 25 years experience in the insurance industry and previously held a number of senior positions at Willis, including chairman and chief executive of Willis Corporate and managing principal of Willis Risk Solutions.
