Deloitte
The business advisory firm has appointed Anne Hamilton to lead its insurance tax team.

Hamilton was previously a tax partner at rival PricewaterhouseCoopers.

“In light of Solvency II we anticipate that there will be considerable restructuring work to make sure that insurance companies’ balance sheets have capacity,” said Deloitte head of UK insurance Mark Fitzpatrick. “Anne’s experience will be invaluable.”

Barclays Wealth
The global wealth manager has appointed Mark Cooke as a managing director and global chief risk officer.

Cooke will be primarily responsible for delivering a co-ordinated risk and governance agenda for the firm, bringing together risk, credit risk, business continuity management and risk projects roles.

He joins from UBS, where he spent the past 12 years in a number of senior roles, latterly as chief operational risk officer for the EMEA region.

Hermes BPK Partners
The alternative investment group has appointed Lawrence Kissko and Marc Koslowsky as senior analysts for relative value and global macro strategies and equity and event driven strategies respectively.

Kissko joins from BlackRock, where he was a director in the firm’s fund of funds group, while Koslowsky was previously a portfolio manager and senior vice president at Optimal Investment Services in New York.

Thames River Capital
The investment firm has hired five new managers for its global credit and European equities teams.

Stephen Drew and Simon Ulcickas have joined the credit desk as senior fund managers, from Tudor Capital and JP Morgan respectively.

James van den Bergh will co-manage the firm’s Kingsway fund, having previously managed European long/short funds at SAC. He is joined by former SAC colleague Omer Tore, who joins Thames River as an investment analyst.

Carlos Moreno becomes manager of the Thames River European fund with Tony Zucker, having formerly worked at Fidelity Investments for 15 years.

Pacific Alliance Group
The Asian alternative investment manager has hired Anthony Miller as president and chief executive of its newly formed unit, Pacific Alliance Japan.

Miller is currently president of Ramius Japan, where he will remain a senior advisor after joining Pacific Alliance. He was previously a managing director and head of the Hong Kong office for private equity firm The Carlyle Group.

Goodman Jones
Graeme Blair has been appointed at the accountancy firm as a partner.

Blair joined the firm’s tax department last year and has over 12 years of experience focusing on the SME sector.
