Today's City Moves covers green banking, cross-border payments and bank holding. Take a look at these movers and shakers:

Barclays

Barclays has made two appointments to strengthen its green banking client offering. Rhian-Mari Thomas has been appointed as global head of green banking; Victoria Land (pictured) will lead DCM origination in SRI and green bonds. Rhian will be responsible for developing Barclays’ green strategy globally within banking, working in partnership with coverage and product teams. As founder and chair of the firm’s Green Banking Council, Rhian will continue to represent Barclays on a number of key external bodies. She joined Barclays in 2000 and spent 10 years in leveraged finance and financial sponsors coverage before going on to hold a number of leadership roles across corporate banking and Barclaycard. Prior to Barclays, Victoria was director of sustainable bonds EMEA at HSBC and played an instrumental role in growing HSBC’s ranking to second for underwriting green/social/sustainability bonds. In this role she led HSBC’s efforts to structure and execute bonds for their global client base.

Earthport

Sunil Sabharwal has agreed to join Earthport’s board as a non-executive director, subject to regulatory approvals. Sunil has most recently served as the US alternative executive director to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He was confirmed by the US Senate in February 2016 for a period of two years, which he served out in its entirety across two US administrations. In his capacity as the sole Senate-confirmed US board member to the IMF, Sunil has been responsible for casting the US vote on all decisions of the IMF including those on lending, surveillance reviews, policy issues and key budget matters. Sunil also served on the IMF’s budget and liaison committees, where he maintained board-level relationship with the World Bank, UN and other international organisations. He was also member of the board’s gender-equality working group.

Capital One

Capital One Financial Corporation (COF) has appointed Amy Lenander as head of international, taking overall responsibility for Capital One Canada, in addition to her current role as Capital One UK CEO. Amy will continue to be responsible for the overall strategic direction and general management of the UK credit card business. Over the past 18 months, Ms Lenander has led the UK team while driving resilient growth and continuing the business' technology transformation. She was named Banker of the Year at the Women in Finance Awards in June for demonstrating a contribution to strong financial performance, innovation in new products and services and proactively championing gender diversity.
