Markel International

Markel International, the specialist insurer, has appointed Naomi Murray as senior claims adjuster in its trade credit and political risk team. Naomi is a highly experienced claims handler having spent nearly 20 years in the role. She has worked for Coface, Amlin, RPC Loss Adjusting and for the last 11 years as a consultant with Leadenhall Adjusting Limited. She has handled a wide range of claims arising from non-payment, pre-shipment credit, unfair bond calling, contract frustration, confiscation, expropriation, political violence and business interruption across the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa. Naomi will report to Antony Bastow, claims manager and contracts counsel. Antony, who is a qualified barrister and has 16 years of claims experience, will retain the overall responsibility for the trade credit and political risk claims function. His role has become increasingly focused on assisting the underwriting teams in London, Singapore, New York and Dubai.

Therium Capital

Therium Capital, a global provider of litigation finance, has appointed Tom Sibert as general counsel and investment officer in London. Before joining Therium, Tom was a corporate partner in London for global law firm, K&L Gates. During this time, he advised on a broad range of corporate transactions with a particular focus on cross border mergers and acquisitions, both public and private, and corporate finance. Other practice areas included private equity and venture capital transactions, joint ventures and complex commercial agreements. The Legal 500 recommends Tom for mergers and acquisitions and commercial contracts work.

Kingsley Napley

Iain Miller is joining Kingsley Napley’s regulatory team as a partner. Iain joins the firm from Bevan Brittan where he was a partner in the litigation, advisory and regulatory department. Iain is particularly well known for advising on regulatory matters in the legal sector, notably having acted for the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) for just over 22 years. He started doing litigation for the SRA in 1994 and later joined their disciplinary panel. He is ranked as a “star individual” in the field of professional discipline in Chambers 2016 and as a “leading Individual” in the latest Legal 500 for the same. Iain will work in the highly regarded regulatory team headed by Nicola Hill and alongside partners Melinka Berridge, Julie Matheson and Julie Norris – who focus on regulatory defence matters for professionals ranging from FCA registered individuals and accountants to dentists and psychoanalysts.
