Who’s switching jobs today?

Mayer Brown

Global law firm Mayer Brown announced that Ashley McDermott has joined the firm’s banking and finance practice in London as a partner. He will advise on a range of lending transactions, particularly those involving emerging markets. Ashley’s practice is focused on export, trade and multilateral financing, especially in the commodity, energy and infrastructure sectors.

He advises banks and borrowers on a variety of structured trade finance work, including borrowing base, prepayment and pre-export financings. In addition, he has significant experience in export and agency finance and has a particular interest in financings for sovereigns, state-owned enterprises and parastatals. Ashley was formerly at Clifford Chance, spending most of his career in London and Hong Kong.

Meggitt

Engineering business Meggitt announced that Paul Heiden will retire from his position as Non-Executive Director, Senior Independent Director and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee on 25 April 2019, immediately prior to the AGM.

The board has appointed Guy Hachey to the board of directors (and as a member of the audit, remuneration and nominations committees) with effect from 1 January 2019. Guy was president and chief operating officer of Bombardier Aerospace from April 2008 to his retirement in 2014.

Over a period of six years, Guy led the transformation of the entire product portfolio of Bombardier, overseeing product programme investments in excess of $8bn (£6.29bn). Prior to that, Guy had significant operational roles at General Motors Corporation and latterly, Delphi Corporation. Guy is a citizen of both Canada and the US.

IOE&IT

Bibby Financial Services (BFS) specialist director, Kash Ahmad, has been appointed to the board of the Institute of Export and International Trade (IOE&IT). Established in 1935, the IOE&IT is the professional membership body representing and supporting the interests of those involved in importing, exporting and international trade. Kash joined BFS in December 2017, following a range of senior executive positions throughout the UK, Middle East and Asia, supporting smaller businesses, mid-market and global corporate businesses.

Prior to joining BFS, Kash held the position of managing director of global transaction banking, mid-markets at Lloyds Commercial Banking. Previous roles also include chief risk officer at Barclays Bank Pakistan and managing director of onward business for Barclays Bank’s UK Global Corporates division.
