City Moves for 30 April 2019 – Who’s switching jobs at Harworth, Oaknorth and Alvarez & Marsal?

Today's City Moves includes Harworth, Oaknorth and Alvarez & Marsal.

Harworth

Land and property regenerator Harworth has announced that Ian Ball will be made its first ever chief operating officer on 1 May to support the ongoing growth and evolution of its business. This role will provide additional oversight over the business’ new regional operating model, while bringing together the capital growth and income generation teams within a single management structure. Ian already has a deep understanding of the business, originally joining Harworth in 2014 and was promoted to the role of executive director for income generation in 2015 where he has overseen the company’s efforts to increase the quality and breadth of its income base from its business space, natural resources and operations functions. Owen Michaelson, chief executive of Harworth, said: “I am certain that Ian’s depth of commercial experience, supported by his rigorous analytical methods, will ensure that we maximise available opportunities from our existing and future projects across the north of England and the midlands.”

Oaknorth

Entrepreneurs’ bank Oaknorth is bolstering its regional presence with the appointment of four senior team members in Manchester, the midlands and the south west. Christopher Swarbrick, who has 18 years’ banking experience, joins as a Senior director, debt finance from Europa Capital Debt Investment and will lead on day-to-day responsibilities for the team in Manchester. He will be joined by David Rowlinson, who has 33 years’ experience from a multitude of institutions, and joins from Investec where most recently, he led lending operations from their Manchester office. Christopher Richards joins from RBS where he spent 11 years and most recently held the role of senior relationship manager, managing a portfolio of 40 complex banking relationships. Tom Windett, who has over 12 years’ experience in deal structuring and transaction management for corporate, entrepreneur and family office clients – most recently at HSBC – will be based in Bristol and will cover the south west.

Alvarez & Marsal

Tania Howarth has been appointed managing director of global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal. Tania’s arrival follows that of Jason Spencer, who also joins the practice as a managing director, bringing two decades of significant M&A experience. The latest appointments are indicative of the success of the firm’s European private equity practice, which has seen the team size nearly triple over the past three years.
