Edmond de Rothschild Group

Edmond de Rothschild Group, the wealth and investment manager, has appointed Vincent Taupin to assume global responsibility for Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management with effect from 1 January 2017, alongside his existing role as president du directoire of Edmond de Rothschild France. This follows Roderick Munsters’ decision to resign from his role as head of Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management for personal reasons. However, he will continue to contribute to the group by joining the board of Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management (France) S.A.

Bluestone Group

Bluestone Group, an international financial services business, has appointed Peter McGuinness as group CEO, with immediate effect. Founder and executive chairman, Alistair Jeffery, will continue to be actively engaged in the business as non-executive chairman, dividing his time between Bluestone's head office in Cambridge and its regional offices in Dublin, Manila and Sydney, and focussing on further expansionary strategies for Bluestone. After working at Japanese investment bank, Nomura International in the 1990s, Peter joined Bluestone in Australia in 2003 to establish its equity release business, before taking on the role of CFO, and then CEO – APAC in the aftermath of the financial crisis. He joined Alistair in the UK in 2013 and has led the successful expansion into mortgage lending and also the establishment of a car and equipment finance business in Ireland.

Latham & Watkins

John Balsdon is set to join Latham & Watkins' London office as a partner in the finance department. John has more than 20 years’ experience advising global trading companies and investment banks on a broad range of transactions in the oil and gas and power sectors, including project financing, structured trade financing, reserve-based lending and restructuring matters. Over the years, John has established a market reputation for advising on some of the largest pan-European project financings in the energy and natural resources sectors. He has vast experience working in both mature and emerging markets and he specialises in complex upstream and pipeline financings in the oil and gas sector.

Standard Life Investments

Standard Life Investments, the global investment manager, has appointed Archie Struthers to the role of head of investments. Archie will join Standard Life Investments on 9 January from Aberdeen Asset Management, where he was global head of investment solutions. Archie will report to Rod Paris, chief investment officer with responsibility for investment governance, the investment operating platform, MyFolio and derivatives counterparty management. Archie will assume the responsibilities of Bill Lambert, head of investment process who is retiring in March 2017 after 13 years at Standard Life Investments and 27 years in the investment industry.
