Who’s switching jobs?

AK Jensen

AK Jensen Group (AKJ), the financial services specialist serving institutional and hedge fund clients globally, today named Sher Malhi as its new Chief Financial Officer

Sher joins AKJ at an exciting time, as the group expands from its hedge fund origins into the digital assets domain. Sher brings a wealth of experience from many years working at KPMG offices throughout Europe, in both audit and advisory roles, for many multinational companies, including leaders in the hedge fund and information technology space.

Sher holds a master’s degree in management information systems from the London School of Economics, and is a member of both Chartered Accountants Ireland and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.

Canada Group

Canada Group (COLG) announces the appointment of Simon Wainwright as the first non-executive director appointment for its subsidiary, Recognise Financial Services, which is, as previously announced, in the process of applying for a UK banking licence. Simon is managing director and chief operations officer for Europe, Middle East and Africa at global reinsurer RGA.

Prior to this role, Simon held a number of very senior positions at HSBC including chief executive, HSBC Ireland, head of business banking, UK and chief operations officer, corporate and structured finance. He is also a non-executive director of National Counties Building Society. The appointment underpins COLG’s stated strategy to build a business to provide financial services to the UK small and medium-sized business market.

Eversheds Sutherland

Eversheds Sutherland has announced that Rebecca Copley will become head of litigation and dispute management for the Middle East from 1 January 2019. In the role, she will manage Eversheds Sutherland’s client offering for litigation and dispute management within the Middle East region. Prior to taking on the role, Rebecca was head of litigation for UAE, and led the financial services, disputes and investigations group for the Middle East. Rebecca’s new role comes during a period of sustained growth for the global practice’s disputes capability in the Middle East.

Based in the Dubai office, Rebecca specialises in corporate crime, regulatory and investigations work. She also supports global clients on complex litigation instructions, working in the DIFC, UAE and English courts. Rebecca will now lead the group as it continues to grow its presence and multi-jurisdictional capabilities in the region.
