City Moves for 12 March 2019 – Who’s switching jobs at Mewburn Ellis, Notonthehighstreet and Legal & General Investment Management?

Mewburn Ellis

Mewburn Ellis has bolstered its European trade mark practice with the high profile hire of partner Kate O’Rourke, senior counsel at Charles Russell Speechlys. A trade mark attorney and solicitor with more than 25 years’ experience, O’Rourke will lead the firm’s growing trade mark team from Mewburn Ellis’ London office. She joins the firm on 1 April 2019. A former president of the UK Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys between 2016 and 2018, Kate has been centrally involved in negotiations with the UK government around the implications of Brexit on trade marks and designs. Having been at Charles Russell Speechlys for over a decade, she has led the firm’s trade mark registration and protection team for more than five years, advising a range of international clients, including within the retail and leisure sectors. A recognised industry leader, she is vice chair of the INTA Pro Bono Committee and one of few women to be featured highly and consistently in international IP rankings. She was awarded an MBE in 2016 for services to education. O’Rourke will spearhead Mewburn Ellis’s plans to grow the firm’s highly regarded trade mark practice and further develop its large portfolio of EU-based and international clients.

Notonthehighstreet

Notonthehighstreet has announced the appointment of former Just Eat commercial finance director, Phil Branston as its new chief financial officer and member of the executive team. Branston joins the business today, leaving Just Eat to take on the role. He will work directly with notonthehighstreet’s chief executive. board and investors to evolve and implement plans for developing the business. He will also lead and develop a high performing finance team focussed on scaling operations. Phil has a wide breadth of experience in both public and private companies which encompasses success in investor relations, corporate finance and business development. Prior to joining Just Eat, he held senior roles at a number of technology tech firms including Sage, Misys and WANdisco.

Legal & General Investment Management

Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) has announced that it has appointed Claire Aley as head of product and investments business management. Claire will be responsible for oversight of LGIM’s global product strategy, development and management functions and supporting LGIM’s information chief, Anton Eser, in the business management of the investment teams. Previously, Claire was head of product strategy and development at Hermes Investment Management, and a partner and head of client service at Highclere International Investors.
