RENAULT’S ELECTRIC CAR A HIT WITH HOLLYWOOD.
If you doubt whether electric cars are glamorous just take a look at the cars Hollywood’s A-listers are being ferried around Cannes in. Fully-electric (and silent) Renault Fluence Z.E models are busy chauffeuring actors and industry bigwigs around the red carpets of Cannes, despite the fact that the car hasn’t even launched in its home country yet.

VOLKSWAGEN UNVEILS MOST POWERFUL GOLF GTI YET
Its the 35th anniversary of the original Golf GTI so Volkswagen is introducing a special model called the Golf GTI Edition 35, the most powerful production Golf GTI they’ve made. Power is up by 25bhp on the standard 2.0-litre turbocharged engine to 232bhp and the car gets special alloy wheels and a new front bumper. Inside there’s even an iconic GTI golf ball gearknob which pays homage to the original. Prices to be announced.

JAGUAR’s NEW SPORTY ECO-FRIENDLY HYBRID
Jaguar is going to build it’s remarkable C-X75 hybrid supercar, based on the concept first seen at the 2010 Paris motor show. To be developed with Formula One outfit Williams F1 it should emit less than 99g/km of CO2 yet still be able to accelerate from 0-62mph in less than 3sec. Top speed will be in excess of 200mph. Expect to pay £700,000 if you’re one of the lucky 250 that get to own one.
