Scratching your head over what you can whip out as a last minute Halloween costume?

Well, it doesn't matter what you go for as Burger King has already won Halloween this year.

The restaurant disguised a location in Queens, New York as a McDonald's ghost (though still let its Burger King branding show through the eye holes, obviously).

And people were well and truly impressed.

Burger King couldn't resist a cheeky retweet.

McDonald's tried to hit back in a statement: "Who wouldn't want to masquerade as McDonald's for Halloween when we are serving up treats like McCafé beverages, apple pies, and our World Famous Fries."

But by then the damage was done – the prank has gone viral and Burger King can take a bow.
