BSkyB and ESPN set to carve up Premier League Setanta rights
BROADCASTERS were last night putting the final touches to bids to acquire the live media rights to the English Premier League which have been revoked from troubled firm Setanta.
BskyB and Disney-owned ESPN are expected to carve up the 46 football matches between them after Setanta’s board failed to find a last-ditch solution, putting it on course for administration this week.
Television platform BT Vision yesterday revealed it has stopped selling Setanta Sports “in the event the channel ceases broadcasting”.
The Premier League took back the rights to next season’s games from Setanta after it missed a deadline for a £10m payment on Friday – the latest chunk of the £30m it owes to the Premier League.
