Bournemouth can shoot for the stars after signing Jack Wilshere, insists Cherries boss Eddie Howe

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe insists loan signing Jack Wilshere will propel his side to new levels after the midfielder joined the Cherries on a temporary basis from Arsenal on transfer deadline day.

Wilshere only managed three appearances for Arsenal last season after fracturing his left fibula, while a string of injuries have limited the 24-year-old to just 80 Premier League starts in eight years.

The move to Bournemouth offers the chance of a consistent first-team football for a player who has won 34 England caps, and Howe believes Wilshere can prove the catalyst for his side assuming fresh heights.

“He’s a high-profile name, somebody who is regarded as the very best in his position, and that can only help the players that we have here try and raise their game to new levels, that’s all in our thinking,” said Howe.

“Hopefully the move will be a window for him to be at his very best levels. We’ll work extremely hard to try and showcase him in the best way and I think our style of football will certainly help that.”

Despite appearing three times for England at this summer’s European Championship in France, Wilshere was omitted from Sam Allardyce’s maiden squad for Sunday’s World Cup qualifier in Slovakia.
