Boris Johnson lands in UK as MPs prepare to grill him in parliament

Boris Johnson’s RAF Voyager plane has touched down in London just over an hour before MPs are set to return to the House of Commons after yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling.

The Prime Minister cut short his New York trip to face parliament after the 11 justices of the Supreme Court yesterday overturned his attempt to prorogue parliament.

Five oral statements are due in the Commons.

Firstly transport secretary Grant Shapps will provide an update on the Thomas Cook repatriation. 

Then Michael Gove will offer an update on Operation Yellowhammer – the process to prepare the UK for a no-deal Brexit.

Foreign secretary Dominic Raab will address the House on the Iran situation before the Prime Minister faces parliament’s questions.

Johnson is likely to face a grilling from MPs after his gamble to prorogue parliament backfired spectacularly yesterday when the UK’s highest court declared that his suspension was unlawful.
