Bookmakers have cut the odds of a Hillary Clinton presidency after Barack Obama branded Donald Trump “unfit” to be President.

Obama blasted Trump at a press conference yesterday, saying that the billionaire is “woefully underprepared” to take on the Oval Office.

Asked specifically about Trump's comments in relation to the family of slain American muslim soldier Humayun Khan, Obama said: “There has to be a point in which you say this is not somebody I can support for president of the United States.

“There has to come a point at which you say 'somebody who makes those kinds of statements doesn’t have the judgment, the temperament, the understanding to occupy the most powerful position in the world'.

“Because a lot of people depend on the White House getting stuff right”

Trump hit back by branding Obama a "weak" and "inneffective" President, arguing that the former Illinois senator's time in the White House had been "a disaster", but bookies have nonetheless responded by dropping the odds of a Clinton victory.

William is Hill now offering 4/9 on a win for the Democrat candidate, in from 2/5, while Trump's odds have gone from 7/4 to 15/8.

Similarly, Ladbrokes has chopped Clinton's odds from 4/9 to 4/11, while the Republican is now priced at 12/5 from 9/4.

“Betting markets took far greater notice of this speech than they did of [Obama's] EU intervention which didn't move the dial at all,” a Ladbrokes spokesman said.
