Betting: England to down old foe Scotland in Calcutta Cup

England will be searching for a world-record equalling 18th straight win when they renew their historic rivalry with Scotland at Twickenham this weekend.

Despite three middling performances in the Six Nations thus far, the Red Rose remain on course for back-to-back Grand Slams; a feat which no team has reached since 1998.

They’ll have to overcome a resurgent Scotland side first though.

Vern Cotter’s men have already upset Ireland and Wales in this year’s tournament, and will be looking to cause another shock on Saturday.

A win would secure them their first triple crown since 1990, and catapult them into title contention with only a home fixture against Italy to navigate.

However, it’s a resolute English side that stands in their way first.

Coach Eddie Jones has made three changes from the team’s lacklustre victory over Italy a fortnight ago.

Thrown by Italian tactics at the breakdown, England took until late on to find form, before eventually running out 36-15 winners.

Ben Youngs, Jonathan Joseph and Jack Nowell all return in hope of fine-tuning the backline.

An attacking verve defined England in 2016, but they’ve failed to reach those heights in three unconvincing performances so far this year.

They certainly have the talent, even if it hasn’t quite clicked yet, and tomorrow could be the day it all comes together.

England to win both halves looks a good bet at evens with 188BET.

Despite England’s struggles, they could in fact lift the Six Nations trophy with a win, should Wales beat Ireland in Cardiff tonight.

Motivation won’t be a factor either way, with the Calcutta Cup and that world record win on the line.

Unlike previous years, they might find it tougher against a confident Scottish outfit, and Jones’ replacements may prove the difference yet again.

Sporting Index’s England supremacy price seems a touch high, so I suggest selling at 12.
