Betting: Bogey side Palace to put brakes on Liverpool’s title run

CRYSTAL Palace enjoy nothing more than spoiling Liverpool’s party.

After coming from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 and scuppering the Reds’ title hopes in 2014, the Eagles won 3-1 at Anfield in Steven Gerrard’s farewell appearance a year later.

And Palace once again played party poopers in Jurgen Klopp’s first home game in charge 11 months ago, with a 2-1 win.

Liverpool can’t stand the sight of Palace – they have only managed three wins in their last nine matches against their bogey side.

Palace boss Alan Pardew must also provide bad memories – he scored the winner in the 1990 FA Cup semi-final to knock-out the Reds.

With Liverpool’s title charge picking up speed, you can be sure Pardew won’t make for a hospitable host when the two meet tomorrow.

Joint-level at the top, Klopp’s men are looking well set for a good season.

They’ve won seven of their last eight in all competitions, and are the division’s top scorers.

However, given their recent struggles in south London, it could be a nervy trip to Selhurst Park on Saturday

Palace haven’t been in great form this term, but I think their recent record against Liverpool has to count for something.

I like Betway’s 14/5 for a draw.

Neither side have kept a clean sheet in meetings between these two since 2005, with at least three goals being scored in each of their last eight meetings.

Liverpool have been starting fast – in four of their last five games the deadlock has been broken before the 20th minute.

I suggest selling the time of the first goal at 31 with Sporting Index.

Pointers

Draw – 14.5 (Betway)

Sell first match goal – 31 (Sporting Index)
