Matt O’Mara will join the company in the newly-created role of chief commercial officer, reporting directly to boss Emma Scott.

O’Mara, who has served in senior roles at Vice for the last decade, will be charged with developing Beano’s commercial offerings.

Beano, which is best known for its comic book starring timeless troublemaker Dennis the Menace, launched its digital arm in 2016, and now produces digital and TV content aimed at children.

O’Mara will also work closely with Amy Garrett, managing director of the firm’s Beano for Brands consultancy division.

“Matt’s proven entrepreneurial and strategic drive is going to be a huge asset to Beano Studios as we continue our energetic growth into new markets and sectors,” said chief executive Scott.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the great talent we already have at Beano Studios, and Matt’s addition will be pivotal as we push into the next wave of growth.”

O’Mara said: “It’s an incredible time to be joining the business and the incredible talent across all areas.
