Incoming deputy governor at the Bank of England, Minouche Shafik, was yesterday forced to defend her record, insisting she does have enough experience for the job. But she told the Treasury Select Committee that she worked closely with troubled nations on their monetary policy frameworks and governance, after chair Andrew Tyrie asked if Shafik was “going to learn on the job”.
