Bank of America Merrill Lynch creates new UK investment banking top job

Bank of America Merrill Lynch has created a head of UK investment banking role in a vote of confidence in the country amid political uncertainty.

Former UBS head of UK advisory James Robertson and Peter Luck, who joined the company in 2013, have been appointed to the role.

Robertson and Luck will be based in London and will report into UK and Ireland corporate and investment banking heads Matt Cannon and Richard King, and Luigi Rizzo, the head of EMEA investment banking.

In a memo to staff this morning the company said: “The UK continues to be a critical market for us and James and Peter will partner together to drive the continued growth of our successful investment banking franchise across the company.”

Luck is currently head of corporate broking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and will retain those responsibilities in addition to his new role.

The pair have worked together previously in the same British Army regiment – the Royal Dragoon Guards – in the 1990s, before joining UBS.
