Any petrolhead worth their salt is keeping a close on eye on the LA Motor Show.

Kicking off on 14 November and running until 27 November, it's a bumper motoring occasion for the calendar with a load of exciting model debuts unveiled.

It may be only a few days in but we've already had a host of gems to choose from. Here are five of the best so far.

"Sharper styling, greater potency and increased athleticism" are the defining characteristics of Aston Martin's latest evolution of this model line. Featuring a naturally-aspirated 6.0 litre V12 engine, which now produces up to 600PS, the look can also be enhanced with a range of options including new forged 5-spoke diamond turned wheels.

2. Lamborghini Huracan rear-wheel drive Spyder

According to Lamborghini chief executive and chairman Stefano Domenicali, the rear-wheel drive Spyder "offers the lifestyle appeal of open-air motoring with the pure thrill of rear-wheel drive engineering." Sold. Available in markets worldwide from January 2017, it'll be priced between the two and four-wheel drive coupe models.

3. Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV has been revealed in Quadrifoglio form, powered by the all-aluminium, 503bhp and 443lb ft, bi-turbo 2.9 litre V6 seen in the Giulia Quadrifoglio. But this will only be offered in all-wheel drive.

Alfa Romeo and Maserati chief executive Reid Bigland said: "The reason people will buy our mid-sized SUV is because they will get blown away by the driving dynamics." Autocar expects the Stelvio Quadrifoglio to top out the Stelvio range at around £65,000, with the standard car likely to start around £40,000.

The hotly anticipated rival to the Rolls-Royce Dawn purred into the LA Motor Show ahead of sales starting in spring 2017. This marks an extension in the Mercedes-Maybach luxury brand, with the firm's first convertible. This monster is priced from around £260,000, with only 300 due to be made.

5. Jaguar I-PACE Concept

The very first electric car for Jaguar: of course it was going to be hyped. The British car firm unveiled its prototype in LA, with the final model set to be on the road in 2018. Described as a "smart, five-seat sports car and a performance SUV in one", a full charge will give a range of more than 500km. Watch out Tesla…

And one for good luck… The Jaguar XKSS remake

So, Jaguar didn't just stop there. It's only gone and remade the XKSS. But before you get too excited – it only made nine and they've all been sold (for more than £1m each). Still, it's nice to look at isn't it?
