PNC to buy RBC retail banking

PNC Financial Services Group is expected to buy Royal Bank of Canada’s US retail banking operations in a deal worth around $3bn (£ bn), according to a Bloomberg report. RBC, the largest Canadian bank by assets, put its struggling US consumer banking business on the market after failing for years to wring profits from the operations acquired nearly a decade ago. PNC and RBC both declined to comment.
