Pacquiao-Mayweather clash off

MANNY PACQUIAO’S promoter insists the prospective super-fight with Floyd Mayweather is off after mediation failed to resolve differences between the pair.

Pacquiao pulled out of the proposed 13 March bout after Mayweather’s camp insisted on random drug tests in the build-up. Former judge Daniel Weinstein was brought in to act as an impartial negotiator, but after nine hours’ mediation on Tuesday and Wednesday he was still unable to broker a compromise.

“There’s no chance ever of salvaging it,” Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum said. “I knew this was going to happen. There is no chance for it ever to happen.”

Arum blames the row on Mayweather himself. He added: “I’ve been saying this for years: He’s a psychological coward who doesn’t want to fight anybody with a chance of beating him.”
