Arsenal gunning for glory on all fronts, says Wenger

ARSENAL manager Arsene Wenger has reaffirmed his desire to put silverwear ahead of plaudits this season ahead of tonight’s Carling Cup fourth round tie at Newcastle.

Wenger has often been accused of treating this competition with disdain in the past by opting to rest his star players in order to blood some of the outstanding young talent at his disposal.

But a five-year trophy drought appears to have changed Wenger’s attitude. A relatively full-strength side crushed Spurs 4-1 in the previous round and the Frenchman revealed a similar looking team will be on show at St James’ Park.

“I have said we want to go and win every single trophy this season,” he confirmed. “We want to go and win the game and qualify. We will rotate a bit but we will go with a big core of the first team.
“You will see Bendtner, Walcott and Vela who are all back and need some games to get fit.

“It is a tough draw. It will be heated and you know it will be a highly motivated atmosphere.”

The likes of Cesc Fabregas, Andrey Arshavin and Marouane Chamakh could all feature from the bench, but highly-rated goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, 20, who recently voiced his frustration at a lack of first team opportunities, will get his first start of the season.
