Arsenal blow as Wilshere ruled out until December
ARSENAL manager Arsene Wenger’s difficult start to the season has suffered another setback after midfielder Jack Wilshere was ruled out for up to three months.
Wilshere, who has struggled with an ankle injury throughout the summer, had been due back by now but has instead been told he needs longer on the sidelines.
It means the England 19-year-old, who has not played this season, is likely to miss as many as 19 more Gunners games, including trips to Tottenham and Chelsea and five Champions League group matches. He will also miss the remainder of England’s Euro 2012 qualifiers, against Wales tomorrow at Wembley and next month’s trip to Montenegro.
Wilshere wrote on Twitter: “I can confirm I will be out for around 2-3 months! I am working hard in the gym to stay fit and I am gutted but I will be back stronger!”
Wenger has already lost his two most creative players, with the sales of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, meaning much of the burden would rest on Wilshere’s shoulders. Fellow midfielder Abou Diaby is injured and Alex Song suspended, while Arsenal have taken just one point from their first three Premier League games.
