Armitage charge could add to Johnson’s Six Nations headache

ENGLAND manager Martin Johnson faces yet another selection headache ahead of the Six Nations campaign after the RFU charged Delon Armitage with misconduct.

Johnson, who is alrerady without four of his squad, may now have to contend without London Irish’s Armitage, who will attend a hearing today for an alleged offence which took place after the defeat against Bath on New Year’s Day.

Armitage must answer a charge of conduct prejudicial to the interests of the game after he allegedly pushed and used threatening language towards a doping control officer.

The Exiles full-back subsequently passed the drugs test but still becomes the first England player to be charged with this form of offence.

Rugby Board regulations state that hurling foul language at match officials carries a ban of between six and 18 weeks.
