Tesco to repay £585m in emergency support with Covid risks 'behind us'

Tesco has become the latest subject to antivax protest, after it included a double vaccinated Santa in its latest Christmas advert.

Antivaxxers, those who have been against the Covid-19 vaccine rollout, took to Twitter to protest the advert, which pushed #BoycottTesco to trend on the social media platform.

GB News presenter Tonia Buxton tweeted: “#BoycottTesco Bad move. Take this ad down now.”

While some referred to the inclusion of a vaccinated Santa as reinforcing “medical apartheid”, others said the festive advert was an example of “fascism”.

Every little bit of fascism helps. #BoycottTesco

The advert showed Santa holding up a smartphone with proof of double vaccination via the NHS app.

Meanwhile, other Twitter users more supportive of the UK’s immunisation drive praised the hashtag for making Tesco a less likely supermarket option for antivaxxers.

Heading to Tesco now, safe in the knowledge that all the antivaxers have decided to #BoycottTesco becsuse they got triggered by Santa showing a Covid pass in an advert.

Thanks for doing your bit to keep us all safe. Stay home. pic.twitter.com/cjTFh9VLVj
