Get ready for the addiction to strike anew: Angry Birds 2 is coming at last.

Six years after the smartphone game that drove us into a bird-throwing frenzy, Finnish game developer Rovio Entertainment has finally announced it will be getting a sequel.

The original Angry Birds stormed to the top of the charts when it was released in 2009, and has since been downloaded over 2 billion times, opening the floodgates for other mobile game developers.

Although Rovio has released 14 different Angry Birds updates, this is the first official sequel. There’s also an Angry Birds film coming in 2016, for those who really can’t get enough.

So will the birds be angrier this time around? We’ll have to wait to find out. Today’s teaser from Rovio simply promises it to be "flocktastic", revealing the motto “Bigger. Badder. Birdier” with more information to come in an official announcement in San Francisco on 28 July.
