ANALYST VIEWS: DID COSTA PERK UP WHITBREAD’S RESULTS?

The first half performance was well guided in the September pre-close, but positive comments on the outlook and a very creditable performance on cash flow and costs may push the shares higher. The positive momentum seen in second quarter has continued into the second half.

RICHARD HUNTER HARGREAVES LANSDOWN
With value offerings across many of its ranges, most notably Premier Inns, the cost conscious consumer’s tendency to trade down has played into its hands. Costa has also had strong growth in sales.

MARK BRUMBY ASTAIRE SECURITIES
Whitbread remains a quality company and it is delivering.  It has few of the self-inflicted financial problems like debt that blight the rest sector and it is coming up with the goods. But the stock is not cheap
