Analysis: Cost of being a London fan
FANS in London pay more to watch football than those in the rest of Britain, but the cheapest tickets are not always to be found in the most downmarket clubs, according to research published yesterday. The cheapest ticket at the average Premier League club costs £24.88, and the most expensive £49.63 – but at London’s top-flight grounds the equivalent costs are £28.90 and £81.75, and a similar pattern applies in the Championship. Yet while the least expensive day out – calculated from the price of a ticket, programme, pie and tea – at Arsenal comes to £44, the cost of watching rivals Chelsea can be as low as that at second-tier Millwall and Crystal Palace.
