Aircraft maker Airbus and taxi upstart Uber will partner to provide people with a helicopter on-demand service, it has been revealed.

Airbus boss Tom Enders told the Wall Street Journal of the plans at the DLD conference in Germany, saying it is a pilot project due to launch in several weeks.

The cost of ordering a helicopter will hopefully fall, said Enders. Uber has previously offered helicopter rides on demand at certain events such as the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix where it cost around £400.

Airbus will provide the helicopters for the chopper taxi service which can then be booked through the Uber app.
