Tokyo court extends Ghosn detention to give police more time to file charges after re-arrest
Police have an extra eight days to question ex-Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn after Tokyo District Court extended his detention period today.
It gives prosecutors until 22 April to file formal charges against the car industry magnate, after he was arrested for the fourth time last week.
Ghosn was re-arrested on suspicion of creating $5m (£3.8m) in losses for Nissan, where he served as chief executive and chairman until recently.
The architect of the Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi alliance called the re-arrest “outrageous and arbitrary”.
He had been out on $9m bail awaiting trial over claims of financial misconduct, which he denies.
