Alec Baldwin says beating Trump in 2020 presidential race would be ‘so easy’

Actor Alec Baldwin has tweeted that he could easily beat President Donald Trump in the 2020 race for the White House.

Baldwin, who has impersonated Trump multiple times on Saturday Night Live since the 2016 election, told his 1.11m followers the victory would be "so easy".

“If I ran for President, would you vote for me? I won't ask you for any $. And I promise I will win,” the comedian wrote on his official Twitter account.

“Beating Trump would be so easy. So easy. So easy,” the registered Democrat added.

If Baldwin joined the race and sought the Democratic nomination, he would join a crowded field of 18 presidential hopefuls.

This is not the first time the American actor has floated the idea of running in the 2020 presidential race, having brought up the notion in December last year.

If I ran for President, would you vote for me?

I won’t ask you for any $.

And I promise I will win.

Beating Trump would be so easy.

So easy.

So easy.

During an interview on Howard Stern's radio show, Baldwin said: “If I ran, I would win. I would absolutely win. I 1,000 per cent would win.”

However, incumbent presidents are hard to uproot, with the last US president to lose a re-election bid being George H.W. Bush in 1992.

Baldwin's Trump impersonation has been criticised by the President in the past, with Trump tweeting that there was “nothing funny about tired Saturday Night Live”.
