HMV Ayr is the 10th store that has reopened its doors since being earmarked for closure last month, as Canadian entrepreneur Doug Putman continues his run of rental renegotiations with landlords on the high street since buying the chain.

A floor assistant at the store confirmed to City PM it reopened at 10am on Friday, with the same staff returning to the store who had previously worked there, having been on hiatus for several weeks.

Last month the music chain’s branch in Tunbridge Wells opened up again after several weeks of closure.

HMV’s iconic Fopp Glasgow Byres, Glasgow Braehead, Plymouth, Sheffield Meadowhall, Merry Hill, Reading and Bath stores have all also recently resumed service after several days of being closed, as well as one of the retailer’s flagship outlets located in Bluewater.
