The British executive has been at the chocolate maker since 2016 and oversees brands including Cadbury, Milka and Toblerone. Barnard has also held positions at Pepsi and Poundland.

Segro chairman Gerald Corbett said: “I am delighted to welcome Mary to the board.

“‘Her extensive commercial experience in understanding customers through her various international roles in sales and marketing, together with her knowledge of the operation of the retail supply chain will prove a fantastic asset for Segro as we continue to focus on, and adapt to the ever changing needs and demands of our customers and wider stakeholders.”

The appointment will be a boost for the FTSE 100 property firm, which posted an increase in rental income for the nine months to the end of September.
