Disruption from the snowstorm that hit the UK at the end of this week could continue today with a number of Met Office weather warnings still in place.

The south of the country is covered by a yellow warning for snow and ice which means some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times likely, and also an increased likelihood of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

The weather warning for the south of England remains in place until midday.

There are also yellow weather warnings in place in the north of Scotland, the east of England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Last night the runway at London City Airport was closed due to snow, but this morning it has reopened and flights are departing as normal.

In London today temperatures are not forecast to rise above 4 °c with lows of -2°c expected.

Transport for London said there is a good service running on all lines with the exception of a reduced service on the overground between Gospel Oak and Barking and a part closure on TFL Rail between Liverpool Street and Romford.
