Who’s on the move today?

Refinitiv

Refinitiv, formerly the financial and risk business of Thomson Reuters, has appointed Sherry Madera as global head of industry and government affairs to enhance the company’s engagement across government, policy initiatives, industry trends and regulatory developments. This engagement will support Refinitiv’s role as an essential part of global financial markets and offer customers further opportunity to drive efficiency, transparency and collaboration across the public and private sector.

Sherry joins Refinitiv from Canada Corporation, where she was economic ambassador to Asia. She brings over 20 years’ experience across both public and private sector including corporate finance, banking, asset management and entrepreneurial ventures and, more recently, global policy leadership and advocacy in financial and professional services. Prior to her role at the CoL Corporation, Sherry was minister-counsellor for the UK’s Department for International Trade based in Beijing. At Refinitiv, Sherry and her team will engage with customers, industry groups, regulators and governments to help tackle key customer challenges and advocate for fair, efficient and sustainable financial markets.

Blackberry

Blackberry Limited has appointed Bryan Palma as president and chief operating officer. Palma will be responsible for the Company's core product and services that serve as the foundation for its strategy to secure the Enterprise of Things (EoT). This includes people, processes, and ‘things’ – from connected cars and smart speakers to documents, emails, and the data that flows between.

Palma will oversee the Blackberry technology solutions, enterprise software and services, and mobility solutions teams, and will report directly to John Chen, executive chairman and chief executive officer. Palma comes to Blackberry with nearly 20 years’ experience delivering rapid growth at some of the world’s largest and respected organisations such as Cisco, Boeing, Hewlett Packard, Pepsico and the United States Secret Service. Most recently, he was Cisco’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of customer experience for the Americas.

CFA Institute

CFA Institute, the global association of investment management professionals, has appointed Kazim Razvi to the role of director, financial reporting policy, EMEA, effective immediately. Based in London, Razvi will work closely with standard setters, regulators and policymakers in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, to advance CFA Institute policy positions with a primary focus on financial and corporate reporting.
